Award-winning television and theatre actress Sheridan Smith is heading to the Liverpool stage next spring, it has been announced.
The popular television and theatre star, who previously filmed around city locations when she took the lead role in ITV’s ‘Cilla’ biopic, will be reprising her performance of Fanny Brice at selected venues during the UK tour of musical ‘Funny Girl’ including the Liverpool Empire.
Sheridan, who previously picked up an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical when she led a stage version of ‘Legally Blonde’, more recently enjoyed theatre success in this hit West End show as it tells the story of Fanny Brice’s rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star.
Also a BAFTA Award winning actress for her performance in TV drama ‘Mrs Biggs’, Sheridan will appear in ‘Funny Girl’ at the city centre theatre from 7-11 March 2017.
The musical, which is currently being directed by Michael Mayer, is known for bringing global fame to iconic singer Barbara Streisand 50 years ago and features songs including ‘People’ and ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade’.
