A new musical based on the life of Cilla Black is set to premier in Liverpool this September.
Auditions will take place soon for the Jeff Pope production which will visit the Liverpool Empire ahead of a nationwide tour.
‘Cilla – The Musical’ is based on the ITV mini-series ‘Cilla’ which charts the early life of Priscilla White from Cavern Club cloakroom girl to internationally recongised singing star.
Robert Willis, Cilla’s son, will act as an executive producer on the show.
The musical score will feature a plethora of 60s hits including Cilla classics ‘Anyone Who Had a Heart’, ‘Alfie’ and ‘Something Tells Me’, alongside a backdrop legendary ‘Liverpool Sound’ tunes including The Beatles’ ‘Twist and Shout’.
‘Cilla – The Musical’, presented by Bill Kenwright and Laurie Mansfield, will run at the Liverpool Empire from 7 – 16 September.
