Crust plans expansion to Woolton Village

Crust has revealed plans to launch another restaurant in Liverpool by expanding into Woolton Village.

The Italian eatery is seeking permission to convert the former HSBC bank on the junction of Allerton Road and Woolton Street into its second branch in the city.

A statement issued to Liverpool City Council reads: “The proposal for a pizzeria restaurant use would not undermine the vitality of vibrancy of the district centre and would contribute positively to Woolton Village with the added benefit of having active uses within the evening, further employment opportunities and creating a high quality conversion of the existing premises.

“It will provide a distinctive specialist restaurant offer that our client company is famous for in delivering high quality dining/drinking establishments in the area and in other areas within the city centre.”

Launched by the team behind Duke Street’s Il Forno, Crust opened on Bold Street in December 2015 and is said to have attracted more than 1,000 customers in its first 48 hours.

The former HSBC site the company has lined up ceased operating as a bank last summer.
