Green light expected for Woolton Village cocktail bar

Plans to open a new cocktail bar in Woolton Village are expected to be given the go ahead next week (22 November).

Located in a former beauty salon opposite The Elephant pub, ‘The Pickled Olive’ will serve up “classic cocktails, good wine and craft beers”.

Liverpool City Council’s planning committee will consider proposals to allow the former salon to open as a drinking establishment between 12 and 11.30pm.

According to a council planning report, several neighbouring properties and business objected to the proposals for reasons including fears that that there is already a sufficient amount of bars and pubs in the village.

Despite these concerns, the report considers that the proposal would be “acceptable in terms of its impact upon the amenity of surrounding residential occupiers” and that the change of use is acceptable.

According to the planning application, The Pickled Olive is to be aimed at couples between “25 – 60+” who enjoy “nice drinks in comfortable surroundings”.

Plans for the proposed venue on Woolton Street, which will also serve light snacks, tea and coffee, also include refurbishment of the internal floor space and external area.
