Titanic Hotel Spa review

When the Titanic Hotel opened as part of the redevelopment of Stanley Dock last year, it was set to be an extraordinary addition to Liverpool’s tourism scene. By renovating a historic area of the city and building a luxury hotel in the North Warehouse, the hotel was already a sight to behold, with its huge, ceilings, exposed brick walls and lavish bedrooms. Now, it has added a stylish spa to its bow too.

We went along to the official launch of the spa on a wet and cold Thursday evening. The dark and rainy conditions outside contrasted with the warm and soothing atmosphere of the spa, already highlighting to the guests that this was a place for calm and luxury.

Guests were treated to a Laurent Perrier champagne reception, accompanied by gorgeous canapés, no doubt crafted by the team behind Stanley’s Bar & Grill, with the soundtrack of the jazz band playing laid-back lounge versions of classic songs in the background.

After an introduction by Catherine Orr, the spa manager, guests were taken on small tours of five to the underground spa and shown demonstrations of different treatments.

The spa itself is actually under the Mersey River, and 17 months earlier, it was completely submerged in water. It adds to the cave-like feeling of being in the spa and also an exclusive brag; how many other people can say they have had a facial treatment under the Mersey?

The spa is decorated beautifully, with soothing music and candles lighting the walkways that dress it and its guest in an attractive light. Flower petals adorn the floor as we were talked through the experience of the Thermal Suite: a hydrotherapy pool with massaging jets, along with steam room, sauna and sanarium. Our guide also told us some information about the VOYA products used by the spa: it’s all natural and organic products which incorporates hand-harvested seaweed. It’s particularly good for those who suffer with eczema too due to its natural properties.

Visiting the Titanic Hotel’s Spa was an experience in itself, and the treatments offered look amazing. We will definitely be going back to try out one of the ‘Tangle Me Up Body Wraps’, where the client is treated to a seaweed all-body wrap and a relaxing scalp massage. For a unique spa treat, in one of Liverpool’s most spectacular areas, look no further than the Titanic Spa.
